Oh, Sun!

Oh sun, why does thou beat upon my chest with all thy fury.
For you are of the sky, and I a tree swaying with the midday autumn breeze.
Collapse within my arms, oh love of mine.
May your fear be laid to the stone and ground to dust.
Your burning heat has swept me away, as I am lost within the current of your smile.
You speak, but your voice is silent.
You touch, but your embrace is withheld.
Move upon these frozen gates and unfurl the keys of unyielding devotion.
For the stars speak of your name, and the moon sings the remembrance of your youth.
Yet they do not know you as I do. They have not kissed your hands as I have.
They cannot share in the secrets cut out from your heart as I do.

In dark times, when the shadows had taken you from me, I loved you.
When the storms came and the clouds blocked my view of you, I still loved you.
When it seemed as though your glory would never shine to these portrait leaves
and withered branches again, I still loved you.
Steal me away from this mortal coil that holsters the anguish of yesterday.
Allow our hearts to beat as one as it did only a fortnight ago.
I will remain, waiting for the kindness imparted from your majesty.
In weakness, your voice will not fall devoid of bended ears within a silhouette of sand.
In frustration, I will reach towards the heavens and await your gentle touch.
In sadness, I will take in your radiant light and whisper to you again, “I am here for you.”
